RIFTFORGE occupies a fissure in Rift Zone 7, Iceland, where the North American and Eurasian plates pull apart. Eight smiths work in shifts, hammering directly on the mantle. We don't use coal; the earth provides the heat. The anvil is the basalt bedrock, the hammer is a slab of cooled lava. A game is a blade, and a blade is a folded record of geological time.
A title begins as a raw chunk of crust. We heat it in a geothermal vent, fold it to trap gameplay mechanics, and hammer it on the anvil of the earth. The interaction is the stress of the fold; the win condition is a blade that can withstand a magnitude 7 quake. If it shatters, the metal returns to the rift. The mantle decides the heat; the smith decides the fold.
The forge keeps one rule from the 1783 Laki eruption: *the blade must be longer than the rift that birthed it*. The mark is a jagged fault-line scar. The earth provides the metal; the hammer provides the form. The drift provides the edge.
